The Slight Edge

First let me just say this – buy this book! If you ever think, feel like, wonder, doubt, or can’t seem to figure out why crap just keeps happening to you… despite the fact you’ve done all you can to keep it 100. Then this book is for you!

Listen, I’ve struggled with success and failures. In the real-estate bubble I had 3 homes and lost them. In the sales bubble, I would hit high numbers – then go back down. It wasn’t until I started to learn to internet marketing with Empower Network, that I discovered this book and why I was not being consistent in my actions. This book is knocking the gray lenses on my eyes right off. This book has shown me that it is the little things that we do or don’t do, that makes all the difference.  Success is just a bunch small little boring things that must be done. This book reminded me… that winning is in the completion of the small things. The stuff no one cares about, because it just seems so unimportant. For example in business to business sales, you must make sales calls to schedule appointments. No sale calls no appointments. No quota achievement, no commissions.  League bowler…rush the shot -pull the bowling ball to the left or right. In our rush rush society everyone wants the baby – not the labor/pregnancy. You will learn that time is really on your side. Just in chapter 5 alone, you will clearly see that time is going to pass regardless of your choices – the question is will you let time help you or let time pass you by.  One more cool thing about this book. At the end of each chapter they actually share live testimonials from people all around the world. People who have different goals and desires, and how they have put the book to good use to reach them. You and I can do the same.

One final thought. Just last week I was struggling with making sales calls. I didn’t want to call those cold leads.  However, after reading this book I was aware of the power of my choices. Yes, I could have not made those calls. And life would have continued. Yet, not making those calls would have resulted in no activity. No possibility for a closed deal, meeting with a potential client, or maybe an introduction to someone they know.  Thus I made those calls…and now I can honestly say I took the actions. Isn’t that what a 200% sales quota achiever would have done? He/she would have made those calls…and even if they didn’t reach anyone on the phone. While doing those calls, I got inspired to mail those leads some marketing materials… let’s see how it goes. When you know the power of your decisions and how they impact your goals, you will start to make better decisions consistent with who you want to be.  Get the book!

The Compound Effect

Yes, I am going to say BUY THE BOOK!!!!!  So when I bought “The Slight Edge” it was recommended that I get this book by Darren Hardy! This guy is a freaking genius.  Look, I just wrote an article on the power of Be/Do/Have. If you focus on “be” then you will “do” and you will “have.” This book a tool to get you to “be” the person you must “be” so that you can “do” what must be done, so that you can “have” what you want. It’s really that simple.

If you look on page 72, you will see that he address the need to ‘be’come the person that is required to hit your new goal. You can’t be a professional bowler, as an amateur. You can’t lose and keep out 20 pounds without being a healthy person. I can’t be 200% quota achiever, as 140% quota person. It just doesn’t work – corn will never grow in sweet potatoes.

Another cool aspect of this book, each chapter has action steps for you and I to really drive home the message of the book. In the first chapter you will be asked to write out your excuses that you cling to not be a group fitness instructor, internet marketer, 200% of quota achiever in your sales job, whatever. Write out a list of small things you can stop doing that might be compounding your results in the wrong direction. Then write a list of steps you can take, no matter how small, to reach your destination. Finally write out a list of your successes. We all have them…marriage, a relationship that lasted more than a weekend. A cool thing with our parents, family, friends. Or just the fact you can sell snow to an Eskimo. We all have a lot more going for us than we acknowledge.  It’s eye opening to see that if I continue to build upon my wins, things just keeps getting better.

Finally, this book is packed with a resource guide that’s designed to help you maximize your compounding experience. I don’t want to give it all away, go get the book, read it, and apply it – and win!!!

Listen these tools will work for any goal you have. They will work in any industry, field, lifestyle, etc. See a screw diver is only concerned with being a screw diver and being used correctly as intended. You want to use these tools to help you to become the person you need to be, so that you can start to do, do more of, become consistent in doing what’s required, for you to have what you want. That’s the only real way to get your vibrations in alignment with what you want. Your vibrations is reflected in your being and doing. If you aren’t getting the results you want, then only you can change it. The faster you realize that the success you want is waiting on you to line up, the faster you can have it. Use these tools to help you get there faster.

Finally, I only discovered these books recently from the internet marketing program I am taking. I was listening to an inner circle audio training and they mentioned these books. So I bought them and read them. The program requires you invest in your personal development by reading 30 minutes a day and listing to an audio book. I’ve been doing it for awhile and things are just popping. The things I am learning, the person I am becoming, the way I respond to things is just different. One of my friends told me that she’s noticed a change just the other day.  So yeah, it’s worth it, because I’m worth it!!!!

You’ve got to invest in yourself  to be a better husband, father, wife, mother, student, employee, bowling buddy, cyclist, uncle, employee, marketer…it doesn’t matter. Nothing grows on this planet without TLC! Your mind, life, and future are no different.  You must “be” who you must become to win. Start now.

 Take care!

 Earl

A Simple Way To Raise Your Vibration

How often do you tell yourself, “If only I had the money, I would start that business?” How often do you tell yourself, “If I just lose 10 pounds, I will be healthier?” How often do you say to yourself, “If I was rich, then I can just pay off these bills and be debt free?”  Here’s the tea. We all say it, have said it, or said something similar to those questions. We feel stuck because we think we must “have” this or “have” that in order to be and do what we want.  When we finally get that “have” nothing really changes…and we are right back where we started if not worse off.  In this blog post, let’s explore this notion of “have” and see if we can’t find a better way and raise our vibrations to what we want.photo-1458419948946-19fb2cc296af

Let’s ask ourselves those questions again. Now notice how you feel when you ask yourself that/those question(s)? Did you feel the doubt and fear? Did you hear that little voice say, “Child please… You really?”  Of course we all do. Even when I tell myself, if I just close this deal then I will hit this.  The only difference is through personal development and investing in my education, I’ve come to learn how to deal with this and I’ve made some real strides in my world.

Now let’s ask this age old question – when did you get your driver’s license? When did you graduate from high school? How old were you?  Did you notice something… those were at all at particular ages. You can remember the age you were at the time. You can somewhat recall those moments in vivid details. Here’s why – it’s because who you were “be”ing” at the time.

We have it all backwards in thinking if we have, then we will do, and then be. When reality all of our lives it has been be. do, then have!  Let’s go back to your driver’s license. How old did you have to “be” to get a permit/license?  In the US, it’s 15-16 years old. Once you hit that number you were eligible to get a permit. Then you had to take a test or tests…to have the license/permit.

Now I can hear some of you saying, well of course. That’s the law.  Okay – how about graduating from high school, college, graduate/doctoral school.  In order to get even a degree, you had to “be” enrolled as a student.  Then you had to “do” the required curriculum as outlined by the school/state etc and pass. Once you did all that, then you can “have” your degree.

See, I don’t think you are getting this. Let’s look at the job you currently have. I know you hate it, don’t like it, or which for something better. In order for you to get that job, you had to “be” a candidate. To “be” a candidate you had to “do” the application/resume submission either on line or in person. Then you had to “do” an interview or interview.  Then if you passed the interview/interviews, then you were offered the position and brought on board. Even after all that, still “be” with the organization you have to “do” what’s expected or better, in order to still “have” the graduation picposition.

Listen, I hope you are starting to get this. When I got it after listening to an InnerCircle Audio with my current program that’s teaching me how to be an internet mogul. I was like man… oh man! This is life right here. See I got that if I want to be a 200% of quota producer I had to “be” that person. I then had to do what that person would do, in order to have the 200% quota.

When we look out over the land, everyone is “being” who they are. We can tell by their actions, which is consistent with their being and their results. It never fails. Why do you think you feel a twinge of guilt or feel like crap when you focus on anything contrary to what you really want to be? Those inspired actions you ignore. Those pushes you to take this internet marketing course, read that book, call that person, or just hit the gym (when you don’t feel like it) are the Universe’s attempts to help you get on track to doing what needs to be done that’s in alignment with who you said you wanted to be.

When we just be who we want to be, then we will do / take the actions consistent with that person, then we will have what that person has.  Let’s say it like this. If you want to be a person who makes 100k, 1 million, 10 million,  then you must take actions, learn the stuff, do the stuff  that a person who is a 100k, 1 million, 10 million earner does, then you can have those results!  Till you be that person, you will never do, then you will never have.

If I want to be 17 mph average cyclist, then I must do the work, then I can have that result. If I want to be a successful 7 figure internet marketer, then I must do the stuff that’s required, then I can have that result.  We can look through out history at those who tried to get the results/or temporarily had the results without “being” the person who did what it took to get those results.  We call them one hit wonders, we make insulting television shows about them, they are the lottery winners who are broke 5 years later. They are family members or friends  who blames everyone but themselves for their problem(s)photo-1429051781835-9f2c0a9df6e4It doesn’t matter if you want to be a musician, artist, actor, or bum on the street. All that is required is for you to be that person, then do what that person does, then you can have the results of that person.  So grab a pen and paper. Write down what is the best you possible. How would you be? Would you take on new risk? Would you lead a team of 100’s/1000’s/10,000’s of people. Write it down!!! Yes, the best you possible. How much money do you make as the best you possible. Write a specific amount. Is it 5k, 10k, 30k, 100k, 3k per month? What does the best of you “do” to make that kind of money to have the things that the best of you want?  What kind of results does the “best” of you have? How much in savings? What does your house look like? What kind of car does the best you drive?  How much does the best you invest in your personal development? Our imagination is powerful and fuel for  the soul…so use and create the person you want to be. Then do what that person does, so that you can have the results you want. We are so worth it, because we are.

Here’s to the best of “us.”

“Being” Broke Sucks – Fix It!

If you are reading this right now, then you probably have been broke, are broke, or know someone who is struggling with being broke.  It sucks to be broke and you cannot pay your bills, buy a nice dinner at McDonald’s or just fill up the gas tank.  It just sucks! Let’s keep it real. Being broke causes thoughts of despair, feelings of failure, desperation, struggle, lack and need.  Even worse, for a lot of people being broke prevents them from reaching their potential and from living their lives freely.  As such, being broke hinders, blocks, impedes upon people from being wealthy. Why – because that’s all they focus on and attract into their lives.

How is this possible?  Like attracts like.  Read that again. Like Attracts Like.  Being broke attracts more experiences of being broke.  Being broke means more than just having little to no money in your bank account. Being broke means, talking “broke”, acting “broke,” thinking “broke,”  everything you do, say, read, etc is from the point of view of “broke.”  Earl Nightingale said, “We become what we think about.”  It’s Law of Attraction 101.
78c8dff1

Here’s the cool thing… you can transform from being “broke” to “wealth” once  you understand the fundamental laws of how our mind and spirit interact with the universe.  See, it is your underlying state of BEING, in this case, being broke, that creates the thoughts and feelings in your mind. All of this creates a “broke” message that is broadcasting out to the universe, which in return gives you more of the same experiences of being broke. It’s like you go to a football game to watch football. You don’t go to a football game to watch hockey. Our minds are the same, if we “watch” broke in our lives, then we  will be and remain broke. Would you rather watch a crappy football game, or an awesome drag out knock out game? Of course, you want to watch the knock out and awesome game. Being broke is you watching a crappy football game. You are responsible for what you watch. So change the channel.

Every universal law that exist all consistently point to one thing, we must BE before we can DO, and DO before we can HAVE. No one ever become rich, successful, or major while focusing on “BE”ing‘ broke.”  Yet, our society only focuses on what those people have and completely ignore all the stuff that person went through to get to where they are.  If those stars, CEO, etc had stayed focused on being broke, they would have never taken any actions to reach their level of success.  They would have not endured and fought the good fight.  Did they have struggles, set backs, upsets, of course. It’s going to happen.  Yet, they stayed focused on who they wanted to “Be” and took action accordingly. You are no different. All of your actions are dictated by whom you are “being.”  Being broke is a powerful message that you are sending to the universe and yourself.  Thus the reason why so many people remain “broke.” If want to “be” rich, then you must “do”  i.e. change your thoughts and beliefs about yourself and money,  learn how to create wealth, before you can “have” what you want.

It’s a hard pill to swallow, because we all want to believe we are the product of our environment. There are too many people that grew up on streets that are massively successful to prove other wise. Also there too many born into wealth that are just a hot mess, in jail, or broke to prove otherwise. We see them on news just about all the time. We are the product of our thoughts and beliefs. We attract to ourselves everything we believe we deserve, either consciously or unconsciously. As such, your beliefs dictate your actions, while your actions demonstrate your beliefs. A person will never loose weight sitting and staring at skinny people photos to attract a faster metabolism without exercise and diet changes. An online marketer is never going to attract new clients, by sitting and staring at their pretty laptop and visualizing droves of people opting in on their non-existing website.

photo-1445299370299-fba06c02df22If you are financial broke, then the way out is by changing your mindsets and beliefs about yourself and your relationship to money/wealth.  This is a choice we all must make. You can tell the ones that have, because they the money.  The fastest way to do this is, reading books on success. Listen to audio books on success. Look at my blog post “8 Ways To Use The Law Of Attraction To Manifest Faster Results.”

If you are reading this blog post, it is because I made that choice myself. I’ve been down and out before. I know what is like to wonder where your next meal is going to come from. To have your home broken into several times…to watch folks steal your parent’s car…and not sure what to do. The list goes on. The only thing that changed was me and my approach to life and recognizing I have the power to choose to be successful. You must do the same.

If you find yourself broke, look within.  The awareness of this gives you the choice.  You can choose your state of being.  Imagine what it is like to feel wealthy.  Take that feeling and hold it, you are now “BEING” wealthy.  This is how to break the vicious cycle of being broke.  By BEING wealthy, you are now transforming the signals you are broadcasting.  You are emanating wealth and the laws of cause and effect have no choice but to bring to you which you already are.  Now your actions will begin to bring to you the wealth you feel inside. By being conscious of your state of being, you can choose to change them.  The positive results will return to you without fail, following the natural laws of the universe.

If you want to know the books I read during a really touch point in my life check them out here – they made a huge difference. Let me be frank, successful people experience set backs. They just respond and handle them differently to ensure they can come out on top.

The 6 Reasons Why People Are Struggling With Their Goals

1b0cc699

We all have a lot going on. In addition, with everything that happens around us, it is a challenge to stay focus on and reach our goals. With the six reasons listed as to why people don’t reach their goals, I’ve included a quick fix for each them. Time is of the essences, so let’s begin.

1. They Don’t Write Them Down. I wrote a blog post about this. You and I must write down our goals with a pen and piece of paper. Notice I said pen and paper instead of texting your goals to your friends or using some electronic note system.  Write them down.

Quick Fix: Go to store get a notebook/journal/paper and a pen and write out down what you want to do.  Spend a few minutes a day to do this. If your goal is to lose 5, 10, 15 pound write it down. If your goal is to make $100,000 in affiliate marketing sales, then write it down. If your goal is to become a 215 average league bowler, then write it down. It doesn’t matter what the goal is, just give it life by writing it down.

2. Their Goals Are To Vague. A goal of being rich is way to vague. Having an $5 bucks is richer than you were before that $5 bucks.  Losing weight is a great goal, but you’ve got to be specific. So be specific. The goal must be measurable, realistic, achievable, and have a time line. Without these 4 elements you have just a thought.

Quick Fix: Write your goals so that they are as specific as possible. For example, “I will lose 10 pounds by 03/31/2016.”  “I will make $10,000 by 4/01/2016.”

3. Their Goals Lack A “Why.” All goals have to have a “why”/ a purpose. Let’s be frank it’s a special challenge to change your life and achieve a goal. So you’ve got to know why you want to do it, so that you can stick with it! So why do you want it? What will it do for you? How will it make you better, stronger, faster?

Quick Fix: When are writing out your goals: specific, measurable, achievable, and realist, ask yourself “How will this make my life/world better?” Dare to explore and let your go. Write it down. How would you feel when you lose that 10 pounds? What would you do differently now that the 10 pounds are gone? You have an imagination, use it and make your goals achievement as vivid as possible.

4. They Don’t Take Self-Responsibility. There are no guarantees in life. With all the best plans, statics, technology, insurance policies, etc when you step out to make it happen something could go wrong. Let’s be real things go astray. Sometimes things happen that are just out of your control.

Quick Fix:  Just own up to it. It’s always all about you. It doesn’t matter if your boss kept you late or the weather was bad. The fact of the matter is that these are your goals/dreams. When you shift the blame to other things/events/people, you rob yourself of the ability to learn and grow.

5. They Don’t Believe They Will Succeed.  Let’s just real here. If you don’t believe the goal is obtainable and you can do the thing, you will never hit it. It does not matter if the goal is to go on a date with a hot person. If you believe it will not happen, then you will never take the required actions, in the required frame of mind, to go on that date. You have to believe in the goal, yourself, and let nothing stand in your way. When put belief behind anything it creates a new life of its own.

Quick Fix: Write your goal down. Keep it in front of you. Read it before you get out of bed in the morning and before you go to sleep. Hire a coach/mentor and study the subject of the goal. If your goal is to be an internet marketer, then learn and continue to learn about internet marketing. Attend workshops on the subject matter. Learn all that you can put that into practice, and learn some more and put that into practice. Then eliminate anything and everything from your world that is negative and tells you that you can’t win i.e.: television, negative friends, people who laugh at your goals, people who don’t and refuse to support you. Just get rid of anything that is a drain. Learn, take action, and win!

6. They Do not Take Action(s). Most people go through the process of writing a goal and the whole nine yards, and fail to take action(s). A goal without actions is just an idea on a piece of paper. Action(s) is/are always required for anything that exist on the planet. Even to get gas in the your car, requires actions: start the car, drive the car, fight with traffic, get tot the gas station, pull next to gas pump, stop the car… do you get the point. There is nothing on this planet that was created or created without actions of some kind…either chemically or physically.

Quick Fix: Plan out the actions required to achieve the goal as best you can. Take the goal and break the action steps required into small steps and put a date by when the goal must be completed. Breaking your plan into small steps brings the “elephant” down to a more manageable size. That old saying “one step at a time” is real and can help you to win!

At the end of the day, you only get 1 second to live your best life. The achievement of any of your goals represents the maximization of that 1 second. We do not have long on this planet to create our world and enjoy it.  So make the most of it.

Do you have anything to add? What do you think are the reasons why people don’t reach their goals and what are your thought about the 6 reasons we have listed here. Feel free to give your own effective quick fixes for the different reasons in the comments section below.

Take care!

How To Give Life To Your Goals In 3 Steps

I’ve been struggling writing the introduction to this blog for a while. Simply because I want it to hit home and add a lot of value to every reader. It’s my goal to ensure that every time you or someone reads my blog post, they get a something that can help them get to their next level. I don’t care if the reader is in direct sales, network marketing, multi-level marketing, internet marketing, consulting, or a bowling coach. My written goal is that everyone gets value from my blog posts – and make a difference for them.  So when I think about that goal, I find myself wondering…”How many people reading this struggle to keep their goals alive and strong?”  See one of things I have learned from personal/professional development is not just goal setting and having them. Your goals have to life!

  1. Write Them Down With Real Pen/Pencil and Paper

That’s right. It’s really that simple. If you write down your goals on real paper with a real pencil you give your goals life. “They’re alive!” There’s power in writing your goals down. In the 1970’s there was some Harvard students studied to determine how they achieved their success compared to the other 97% students. Turns out those 3% had actually written down their goals and created a plan to achieve those goals, while the other 97% did not.  Of that 97%, 13% had goals however they did not have the goals on paper. This was published by Mark H. McCormack in book  “What They Don’t Teach You at Harvard Business School: Notes from a Street-Smart Executive.”

Yes that was in the 70’s, but let’s look at where you work in 2016. Your full/part time job has written performance goals for you. If you are in a call center employee, your company set a goal for you to make/receive a certain number of calls per hour, with a certain number of cross sales, up sells, etc. If you work in retail you have a sales per hour. If you work for a bank you have quarterly goals for new checking account balances, new loan volumes, credit cards, etc. Even if you are teller at the bank you are expected to refer a certain number of clients/cross sales to your personal bankers. Everything at your job has a measured result/goal. What happens if you don’t hit or exceed the goals? Exactly you’ve promoted yourself to the position of “customer.” In all cases your full/part time job ask you to sign and agree to the goals, to prove you were made aware of them. So if your job gives you “work goals” and will hold you accountable for them, because they are written down and you signed your name stating your know them, received them… don’t you think you should do the same for yourself in your business endeavor?

I can tell you from personal experience, there’s magic/powers/etc in writing stuff on actual paper. My personal experience has proven to me that writing down my goals is probably one of the most effective tools in the success tool box! I’ve had my share of suffering and set backs. Yet, when I get out that $1.00 composite note book and pen, and start to write out what I want and why – things change, you take new actions, you start to see things in a different color of life. If you have goals and you don’t have them on paper, I challenge you to go write them down.

  2. Write The Who, What, When, Where, and Why Your Of Your Goals

If you are still reading that means you are getting value, which is awesome. Please share this with your friends it may help them on their journey.

So when you write your goals write them in away that’s alive. Write them as measurable events. It’s not enough to say I want to make $100,000. You’ve got to be specific and detailed as possible. Your job’s goals are specific as possible, shouldn’t yours be as well? So let me give you an example: I (Who) will make $100,000 (what) by Dec 31, 2016, (when) from selling HerbalLife (put your products/services) products and services on the internet (where) to help people lose weight. (Why) It looks more like this: [fancy_box id=1]”I will make $100,000.00 by 12/31/2016 from selling HerbalLife Products and Services via the internet. I will help people to be in the best possible shape of their lives.”[/fancy_box]

Another way to write them is and this is how I write mines: “I (who) am so happy and grateful now (when) that, I make $100,000 (what) from internet (where) sales of my EmpowerNetwork Products and Services, to help people achieve their definition of financial freedom. (why)”   [fancy_box id=1]”I am so happy grateful, now that I make $100,000 from internet sales of my Empower Network products and services to help people to achieve their definition of financial freedom.”[/fancy_box]

I learned it from Bob Proctor’s book, “You Were Born Rich.”   It’s a great book and you must read it. This way resonates with me because of the “now” factor. This then tells your subconscious mind to search for ways to make this happen. It also acts as an affirmation as well, which helps you to change your beliefs around your ability to achieve that goal. This also gives gratitude for what you’ve accomplished in the future as well – making it an ultra goal. By combing all the “forces” you just give your goals life on major juice…and we all focus on the juice to keep it flowing.

  3. Put Your Goals Where You Can See Them Regularly

Just as the subtitle said. Once you’ve figure out what you want, you’ve written them down, then put them some where you will see them. On your bedroom ceiling. On the door to your bedroom, or kitchen, or refrigerator, or kitchen cabinets. You can cut out picture of what your completed/accomplished goal looks like and post those on your walls/mirrors/car/phone background etc. You can create a vision board. John Assaraf, author, entrepreneur, co-stared on the hit show the The Secret” is huge on these. In the movie The Secret, he shared that he was sitting in the house he had on his board several years ago. Check it out!!!

Once you have written down your goals, you can then use the calendar function on your smart phone to remind you to review your goals. You can put them on 3×5 cards and put them in your car. You can take a photo and save it as a background on your phone. This I know for sure, you’ve got to keep them in front of you as much as possible. Let’s be real. We’ve got a lot of stuff coming towards us and it’s very demanding of our attention. As you review them, you will start to believe in them and make them happen. How Success Is Linked To Actions – 3 Quotes To Inspire You To Actions

We all have a dream of making it big, telling our love ones that they don’t have to worry about money, or telling the folks at the plant you ain’t coming back. We all dream of that day. Some of us take actions/steps to reach that goal, while some of us sit around and say some day. So for those of us who take those steps/actions, we open up a business or we join a network marketing opportunity. We get off to a great start, then we lose steam. This thing called life starts to eat at us. The wife starts demanding more time. The kids need new shoes, and of course the husband is acting a damn fool. Yet, that dream of success is calls and beckons you come forth. So at this point you just need something to help you get over that “hump.” You want to be reminded that success is a lot hard of work. It will keep you up at night, and you will need the physical strength of 10 bears to make this happen. So here are some quotes that I found to give your body/mind some needed recharge. Keep these posted somewhere, to remind yourself – success is just an action step ahead.

“Success Is Created By Learning and Doing Success.” Earl L. Jones
I really came to this conclusion while learning how to scuba dive a few weekends ago in Monterrey, CA. The only way to achieve anything, or any level of success in anything – at the job, at home, driving a car, etc. You must learn how to do it and then do what you’ve learned. Just think for second. Did you come out of your mom’s womb knowing how to drive a car? Did you know how to read? Did you know how to talk and form something of a complete sentence? You did not. Let’s take it one step further, how much training did you complete on your job/business/etc? So if you want to change your definition of success, achieve a new level of success, or just be a higher degree of success, then you must learn and do what you’ve learned to achieve the success you want. Go learn how to be the success you want, do what you are told, and watch what happens.

12552271_1014212235287001_369747923_n“You don’t learn to walk by following rules. You learn by doing, and by falling over.” Richard Branson

Read this quote again. Do you notice a pattern here? Parents, did you read to your kids from the “rule book” on parenting about walking? No, you did not. You taught your little one how to walk…and you let them fall. At some point they got it down, but not without trying and falling. Exactly, that’s how we are with success. We must learn the success steps, fall down, then get up again. Walking requires action…success requires action. Hell even as adults we trip while walking, but that doesn’t stop us from getting up, laughing about it, and posting it on social media.

“Often the difference between a successful person and a failure is not one has better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on one’s ideas, to take a calculated risk – and TO ACT.”  Andre Malraux

We all have goals and dreams. Your goal could be to learn internet marketing, start a business, grow your business, or just to get through the day. The only way any of that is going to happen is with action. My experience has been that I get to caught up in the  “I don’t know what to do.” Or I got caught up in the “I’m scared they will laugh at me.” It happens to all of us. And we must just realize something. If we can get in our cars, on our motorcycles, on our bikes, jog in a not so well lighted park, or work at our jobs, then going for goals is just as easy if not easier. The biggest thing that stops us, is that we are so familiar with our “normal.”  That’s where learning, actions, learning, actions, etc comes in. That creates our new normal, and now the achievement of a particular goal is achieved.

Success is learned actions repeated over and over. Walking is learned repeated over and over. Talking is learned. Reading is learned. Even driving your car to and from work is learned. If you want to succeed in any business, sales position, career, publishing, even just how to work out better, you’ve got to learn and then take the actions required. That’s the only way you are going to know if you what you learned works our not. So whatever dream you have, there’s a course on how to do it and win. Go get take that course, learn it, and then do it.

How Scuba Diving Taught Me Success Is Learned

Getting open water scuba diver certified was a massive accomplishment for me. It meant that my fears of not being able to say afloat in deep water was no longer valid.  It also meant I can learn how to conquer them. A lot of us fear success, money, wealth, a healthy and balance relationship, network marketing, starting our own business. Any fear can be overcame by learning and actions. If I can get scuba diver certified then you can get “certified” in any area of your life where you are afraid to succeed.
  1. First scuba diving taught me that success is learned. That’s right. Success is learned. We don’t know what success is until we learn it. It’s all learned. It doesn’t matter what the area of your life is you want to improve, change, reinvent etc you are can learn to do it. In order to get certified as a scuba diver I had to take a PADI course at my local dive shop. I had to listen/watch/and do what my amazing instructor Greg Olson of LazyDiver.com said to do. I simply watched him, did what he did, and got the results I wanted. It may have taken me a few tries, but I learned it and got it down. You can see the PADI card as proof. On my fourth and final certification dive my group and I dove 36 feet in Monterrey Bay’s San Carlos Beach. I was able to do that because I learned from a successful diver. I learned how to breath with a scuba tank, descend to the bottom of the ocean floor, swim just a few inches above the floor, etc. I learned and applied all that I learned from Greg and his team. To succeed at any thing you must learn how to do what’s required. You didn’t pop out as a baby with the ability to walk and talk, you had to learn. Learn to succeed by taking the courses/training that you need in order to win – then do what you learned.

  2. Second thing I learned from Scuba diving is this. There will always be something that you have to deal with. I got sea sick while waiting for my last certification. Yes you can get sea sick, just bobbing up and down in the water in scuba gear. My last certification test was a control free descent to the bottom, float just above the ocean floor, completely remove the mast, use the compass to navigate away from the dive point and return at 24 feet of ocean water. Not a problem – right. Once underwater, the sea sickness went away. Once I got the signal from my instructor I removed my mask. All of sudden cold ocean water is on my face. I didn’t open my eyes at all. My breathing starts to escalate and I am starting to panic. This is despite the fact I have full tank of air and my regulator in my mouth (I can breath.) All sorts of thoughts went through my head. Even the thought of “you can’t do this.” That’s when something said, “To hell with that.” I take a deep breath. Slowed down my breathing. Put my mask back on. Purge it as best as I could. Opened my eyes…and no salt water didn’t bother my eyes. It was then I noticed the mask wasn’t properly sealed around my face…because all the water was in the mask again. I cleared the mask again, got it properly sealed, and kept it moving. Now it was freaking freaky! Yes it was!!!! I’m not going to lie to you. But isn’t that how life goes? You have everything in place and water comes rushing in. It freaks you out, your wife out, your boss out. Everyone is freaking out, while ignoring the obvious leaky seal around the mask that is designed to keep the water out. If I had not gotten in control of my thoughts, my emotions, etc…who knows what would have had happened. It’s 24 feet of ocean water with a strong current that you can actually see and feel. That experience really taught me that you’ve got to always stay in control of yourself. It’s so easy get caught up and swept away in what’s not working, what’s not going right, or the why this isn’t working. When it’s just a simple “reseal your mask” and clear the water from it. Don’t lose your hard work because you got some water in your mask.

  3. Final lesson from getting scuba diver certified. There’s nothing on this planet you and I can’t learn to do. If you have a fear of success, then learn about success. If you have a fear of money, then learn about money. If you have a fear of network marketing, then go and learn about network marketing. If you fear job interviews, then learn how to do them and go have some. Look we didn’t come from our mom’s as baby knowing how to read, walk, talk, eat, wipe our butts, or even how to go the bathroom. We had to learn to that. So winning at life is no different. You have to learn and do. If you really want to take it further, then learn, do, then teach. Whatever you fear – go learn it – and do it. There’s a whole world waiting for you to explore, see, touch, taste, and experience. If you allow fear of your age, sexual orientation, education or lack their of, your wife/husband, parents etc keep you from it – then you are just missing out. Thus you’ve allowed your fear to teach you failure. Go learn success, do it, and be it!

If you are afraid to do internet marketing, network marketing, blogging, direct sales, start your own home business, etc. You don’t have to be afraid any more. You can learn to succeed at all those and change your world. Below is a link to video for you to watch that talks about blogging and system I’m using. Go watch it. You might learn something that will make a difference to help you get over your fears, so that you can take action(s) to get what you want. And at the very bottom of the screen is a place for you put your name and email to get information on how to work from home. You can learn to succeed, the question is do you want to.

 Take care!

These 3 Little Questions Packs A Wallop – Reinvent Yourself And Stay Relevant

Time is the fire in which we burn. (A Trekkie will know that quote.) Time will pass regardless of what we do or don’t do. The Earth will continue to rotate on its axis whether you and I start that business, write a blog post, read book, or make up with that family member who took the last piece of lemon pie. So if we know that time will continue to move with or without us, then how do we stay relevant in these ever Earth rotating times. How do we stay relevant, while continully adding value to ourselves and those around us? Let’s start with 3 simple questions that I learned from one of my favorites Bob Proctor.

1. photo-1416339672936-7fe434088e8cWhat Are You Doing?  That’s right. What are you doing? Are you doing what you love, have to, or hate? Sit down. Take a piece of paper and write it out. What are you doing about/in your business, career, health, love life, money, and spiritual side? Are you making the kind of money you want? Are you doing the type of physical actives or gym time you want? Is your business where you want and vision it be? How are you reconnecting to that side of you that isn’t physical? What are you doing? How’s your overall health? Write the answer to these questions in detail. This question strips away the hum drum and cuts right to the chase. There is no hiding behind the excuses of your ex-girlfriend/boyfriend. This is all about you.

2. What’s Working In Your Life? Based on whatever you are doing to reach where ever you want to go or not going where you want to go – “what’s working?” How do you know what’s working? Just look at your results. This is where you don’t play to your “oh it must feel good emotions.” This is where you get so raw and real with yourself.  If are you getting the results you want, then it’s working for you. I am hoping you’ve written down your “success markers.” These “success markers” light the way to your ultimate goal. If you goal is to lose 15 pounds in 90 days, you would just break that down in to monthly goal of 5 pounds a month, or 1.25 pounds a week.  So what’s working? Okay now that we got the list ask yourself this question. How do I get at least 1% better a day?  If you focused on getting better 1% a day, that’s a 365% improvement. Now is that a reinvention of yourself that would make a difference for you?  Of course it would because you are 365% better than before. Now maybe you will have to take a new course, read or reread a couple of books, hire a coach, or take a seminar. What ever it is and you are committed to your best life, then go and make it happen.

3. What’s Not Working In Your Life?  We all have something in our lives that just isn’t working as we want. So what’s yours?  Write it down and look at it. Now ask yourself this question. “How can I make this work?”  What new actions can you take? If you want to do internet marketing  and don’t know where to start, then your new action(s) is getting in an education program to help you do that. If you are a sales rep and you want to make more sells, then you maybe for you it’s reading and studying sales techniques and success stories. If your goal is to lose 20 pound of weights, then it’s getting the right nutritional supplements and a physical fitness plan for you.  Here is where you make no more freaking excuses for not living your best life.  None!  Yes, you will have invest in yourself. Yes, you will have to make adjustments and course corrections to reach your goal. Tell me, do you ever drive your car without slightly turning the steering wheel at all? Of course you don’t. Even straight roads requires some minor adjustments to keep the car in a straight line. Our efforts towards our goals are the same!!! We are all constantly making adjustments…either sub-consciously or consciously. Sometimes we have to make a complete detour on our journey. That does mean we will have to give up some folks along the way, and let go of things that does you no good! This question will always force you to look at “What’s not working in your life?” and to make hard decisions. photo-1416339276121-ba1dfa199912

I had a meeting with a senior member of management regarding his business sales plan for the year. I asked him those 3 simple questions. We devised 2 sales campaigns to target all the major areas of his sales organization, plus tracking, plus incentives, and the desired close ratio. The plans addressed what we are doing, what’s working, and what’s not working. Please forgive me, as I can’t go into more details than that. We got the green light from senior management to run with our ideas. These 3 questions packs a wallop and will work in any situation. As time move forward and the Earth continues to spin, you and I must reinvent ourselves and stay relevant. It’s all about focusing on how to get it done

Here’s to your success!

The One Thing I Do Every Day – Ask A Simple Question

There’s one thing that I do every day, since I’ve moved to California from St. Louis in 2013. I crossed the Arizona boarder into California desert with tears in my eyes and give my God the glory and praise. I almost ran into the back of a truck. Yeah, I was a bit happy!!!  Moving to California was what you call an “if it happens great or a “pipe dream.”  It wasn’t until my girlfriend Susan Greene, who own a company called Paint Imagery in St. Louis challenged me to either “shut up or put up.”  Actually she was bit more colorful than that. I might as well tell the story.

Susan and Earl

Susan and I did the AIDS/LifeCycle Ride in June 2013 together. This was her first ride and my second ride. I’m still not exactly sure how I got her to join me…but I did something right.  I was so honored and humbled to be with her on that journey. The woman is a damn good cyclist, or just too stubborn to give up. She’strong, classy, and damn good looking. She knows how to handle her business!!!! Well during that ride I kept saying, “Why don’t I move to California? There’s something magical that happens to me when I am near the ocean and can see the whales, etc.” Of course Susan agreed. She will never discourage a person from pursuing a goal/dream.  Well  on day 6 of the ride, we both decide to just take it easy and go hang out at camp.  She and I must have talked about everything under the sun. We laughed so much and so loud, that other folks had to join in. It was on the way to a local Starbucks, that I started talking about moving to California again. Susan, looked me right in the face and said…”If you say that one more time without a plan…”   She went on to explain that whatever fear I had wasn’t valid or real, and in the end if I didn’t move to California I would live to regret it. One thing I know for sure, God gave women just little bit more wisdom then men. I don’t care if you are gay, straight, whatever…women have some keen insight into things that men just don’t have.

1003819_4915303442881_2098400350_nLong story short…we finish the ride. I get back home. I get a call from my previous manager Joel to check up and on me and see how things went. I told Joel about the trip and that he almost got a call stating I had stayed in California. The next words out of his mouth just floored me. He said, “We can transfer you out there. I know the hiring manger. They need support and we can work to make that happen.”  That was mid-June 2013. Sure to his word, I had an offer on the table from my previous employer for Mountain View, CA in July 2013. I left St. Louis, MO August 5, 2013 and arrived in Palo Alto, CA on August 7, 2013 at 7pm. Now my company did not pay for the relocation, because it was considered a transfer. I had to pay for it. The cost of rent out here is high as hell, and I gladly pay it.  So get this. I left St. Louis…I didn’t have a place to stay until I got here. I didn’t have an apartment lined up either. I got here on the 7th of August. I remember pulling over on the side of road starting to freak out in front of a Bank of America branch…because I didn’t have a hotel room. With the help of my auto club service I found a hotel room. On August 8 and 9 I look for a place and found one on August 9. I moved in August 10 (which is so hard to do in my neck of the woods) and slept on an air mattress. (Yes, I still have it.)  My furniture arrived on August 13, which was 2 weeks earlier… and  I had internet/cable/gas/water turned on August 15.  Now stay with me, it gets better!

The one thing that I do every day, since I took Susan’s advice and relocated to California, is focus on “HOW DO I MAKE IT HAPPEN?”  Look if I can make the ducks line up in a row to move across country on my own dime, find a place to say in less than 2 days, then surely I can make just about anything else I want to happen. At the end of the day the ducks aren’t going to line up on their own. No time is going to be perfect. The customers may or may not return your phone call. The associate pastor may or not may bring the Word of God like the Pastor does. None of that will keep a person who is committed to the success of their endeavors from reaching their goals.  See when I started asking the question, “How do I make it happen?” my thoughts and attention went from “we can’t do this because of that…” to searching for what can I do. How can I make this happen? It cost me over 10k to move across country. I got the money. My rent is over 2300 bucks a month. It’s paid on time every month.  I got food in the fridge and cute shoes to put on my feet!     It costs me almost $2000 to fly home to see my my mom… for a few days! All I focus on “How do I make it happen?”

Now don’t get it twisted. I’ve had to fight doubts, fears, etc. They creeps up on you…always lurking in the shadows. One my previous pastors called it stinking thinking. That’s when I hasten back to the throne and simply ask, “How Do I Make It Happen?”  Since I’ve asked myself that question on a daily basis… a lot has changed. I became a indoor cycling instructor at an awesome gym!!! I got a new position in the field I wanted. I am seeing success in my position and I can see the impact I am making on my clients’ businesses.  I’ve learned to cycle better. I’m about to learn scuba diving…thanks to my awesome swim coach!!! I’ve learned to ride a motorcycle; and gone kayaking. Now I am learning how to do internet marketing.  This doesnt’ mean everything is rosy/peach king. Life is not easy for no one! Show me a person who says life is easy, and we will be both laugh at them. Life is easy when you are dead and gone. That’s when life is easy. You have to go for what you want; and the only thing you and I can ever control is our thinking, how react to situations, and how we talk to ourselves and others, which is reflective of how we really talk to ourselves. If you are calling Mary Jane all this and that, then you are really saying that to yourself… (that’s a different blog…I must remain focused) Allow me to make this clear, sometimes the best thing to do…is not to do it. That’s right sometimes, even though I can figure out away to do x  ory…doesn’t mean I always do it. Sometimes, the actions we take can lead us away from our goals. So I strive to balance my actions in alignment with my goals. Sometimes, I get it wrong and have to make course corrections and learn!!! I’m still human and don’t carry a crystal ball. Most of the times I get it rights and the fruits of my labor proves it.

So yeah, with praise in my heart everyday I do this one thing. I ask, “How Do I Make It Happen?”  Whether’s it’s flying home to see my family, buying a new bike, or getting that new position I have, or whatever. I keeps my eyes focused on on that prize. For a little extra kick, I say a quick and humble “Thank you!!”  Or I will say, “I’m so happy and grateful now that…”   Always give thanks to the powers that be. At the end of the day, all you can account for is what you did or did not do. The rest is not and will never be about you! (Another blog) See this is why I wrote about hustling=entrepreneurship. We have to see ourselves as the successes we currently are!  All we are doing it getting to the next level. To get there faster, you may want to start asking yourself, “How Do I Make It Happen?” It’s working for me – maybe it can work for you/and or add to what you are currently doing. Keep me posted!

Wishing you continued success… And share the love!!!

How To Win In Network Marketing – Top 3 Tools That Will Help You To Win

Regardless of whatever network marketing/direct sales program you belong to, you’ve probably have already realized that talking to family/friends may not be working for you. You may also find that just asking co-workers/bowling buddies, people at the park to join your gig is also a challenge. Well, there is another way to win at this thing call network marketing/direct sales. There are 3 top tools out there to help people like you and me – finally get the results we want and win at this game.  Let’s take a look.
  1. Blogging!!!!

When I started my multi-level marketing ventures, I had no idea what I was doing. I was told to talk to my friends and family first. Talk to everyone I know about the business. Let’s be frank…why would I talk to people about a network marketing business while sipping on cosmos. Not to mention who wants to be that family member that running around the Thanksgiving dinner table talking about their HerbalLife ventures and meetings. Just the thought of it sounds so boring and hideous. People have enough drama in their family without the added support of some get rich thing. Man that’s the wrong attitude to have!!!!!

Here’s what I’ve discovered now that I’ve decided to combine my passion for group fitness and training with a company like HerbalLife. Every business shouts their name(s) from the mountaintops. Can you name a successful business that does not toot their own horn every chance they get? Can you think of one successful business, even a small local business that does not shout out from the mountaintops about their business and what they can do for folks? Well, I can… all those who are out of business. Let’s be frank, marketing is huge and important. One of the cheapest ways to promote any business, especially network marketing is “blogging!” Dude, Dudeet, blogging gives any business street cred!

Like totally – yes freaking way. I am just as shocked as you are! Blogging is cheap, in some cases free, and has the potential to reach millions who could completely turn your business and life around in a second. Tell you what. Here’s a challenge go to the website of every company you love…and find the link to their blog. If the big boys/girls are doing blogging, then so must you and I. (This is the best peer pressure.  The one that makes us grow, learn, and become better for it. This ain’t that crazy stuff we all did in 5th grade and get our butts tore up by our parents.) We must tell more than parent(s) about our business. Aren’t we in business to help people to reach their goals?  The next time you drive down the street, notice the business signs you see. How are potential buyers suppose to find the business without a sign? How are your potential customers suppose to find you without a sign (blog?) If you are in any business and you don’t have a blog go get one or several! Write about whatever you want… and watch it change your business!!!!

  2. Social Media

Like I said…uhm back in the day, I was not going to talk to my friends and family about my previous network marketing events while we are doing whatever. Like why would I? That was such the wrong attitude and approach, especially when they were talking to me about all of their business drama. Of course me with my masters degree from Webster University I was all to willing to be a sounding board. And I must admit…gave some good suggestions. Hey, Webster gave me a good education.

Here’s what I’ve recently discovered. Everyone and anyone who is running a successful business use social media. Look at a Amazon!!! They leverage the heck out of social media! Another challenge for you…if you think I am kidding. Open up another internet browser tab and go to your bank’s website. Look for the social media links. Now go to your favorite secret website. Did you notice their social media links? Now go to Amazon’s website and look at their social media. Do you see a pattern?

I can hear it now…but they have huge operating budgets. So what! Facebook is free for and we can leverage the heck out of it. We can post our blogs to our pages… we can talk about our favorite things…etc. We can do it. We are already doing when we post crap about being at the grocery store with Peggy, Barbara, and Susan who doesn’t like Barbara because she’s got to squeeze the tomatoes every time she in the grocery store. Even our favorite recording artists and movie stars leverage social media. Even the FBI use them!!! So if it’s good enough for them…then why not for you and I?

If you need help with this stuff…which I did and getting…and now sharing with you, then click the link in the photos. Hell invest in your own success… and make your own dreams come true. Aren’t we worth it?

  3. MindSet

Finally, we must change our mindsets about working for ourselves. As I’ve shared, my attitude towards my network marketing businesses was not on level or point, especially when I look at my performances in my sales career. I’ve produced over 100% of quota for years! That attitude I had toward my network marketing ventures would have never gotten me where I am today, nor the level clients.  In the day to day job I have call customers, set appointments, cold call, talk about what the bank and I can to do make life easier for them.

My first straight only commission sales job, I walked the streets and passed out flyers for home security systems in neighborhoods that were not friendly to black people! One my biggest home security sales came from a customer who said, “My dog normally barks and growls at colored folks.” Yes, I sold that client almost $500 in extra alarm equipment, while sipping on sweet ice-cold ice tea and playing fetch with their vicious dog in their living room. The key was my mindset. It was all about making their lives easier. How can I show them a level of protection that eases their minds, while being cost effective? It never occurred to me I was in the middle of no-where and it was after 6pm. Nor did it occur to me that I could drive all that way and lose the sale. It just never entered my mind. When I sit down with a customer, all I focus on is helping them win at their game. It is all about mindset. To win at anything your mind has to be right.

I have read many books on selling… and none of it transferred over to my own network marketing businesses until recently. Now that I’ve got coaching, support, and some help…things are clicking and connecting.  We’ve got to get our mindset from “employee” to “employer” and that takes some doing, training, and coaching. I’ve been in business to business sales long enough to tell you – a lot companies go out of business because they run their company as if they are still an employee. Change your mindset!!!

At the end of the day, we all want to win. We want what we want…and we have to find a way to get it legally. The time is going to fly by whether you make a change in this aspect of your life and business… the only question is which side of time do you want to be on.
